Custom Embroidered Sweaters

Embroidery adds stitched decoration to a knitted garment. It can suit a chest logo, monogram or a focused detail when you want a raised thread finish. The knit needs to support the design without losing the feel and movement expected of the sweater.

Send the logo, intended size and placement together with a garment reference. We can review the request alongside printing or knitted-in colorwork when another technique may better suit the artwork.

Making Embroidery Work on Knitwear

Design scale: Small letters and closely spaced details may need adjustment when the artwork is converted to stitches. Review a sew-out at the intended finished size.

Knit stability: Stretchy fabric needs appropriate support during embroidery. Excessive stretching or unsuitable setup can lead to puckering around the design.

Stitch density: A dense filled area can feel firmer than the surrounding sweater. The design and stitch plan should balance coverage with flexibility.

Backing and comfort: Review the reverse side and any stabilizing material, particularly where the decoration sits against the skin.

Placement: Specify the measurement points for the chest, sleeve or other position. Check how the design sits on each garment size and avoid assuming a flat mockup confirms fit.

From Logo File to Approved Sample

1. Share the artwork

  • Provide a clear original logo file, the required width and height, thread color references and garment quantities.

2. Confirm the sweater

  • Agree the yarn, knit texture, garment color and placement. Sampling on the actual knit is more useful than approving an unrelated fabric swatch.

3. Review the embroidery sample

  • Check legibility, thread coverage, puckering, edge quality and the reverse. Adjust the artwork or stitching approach where the knit requires it.

4. Approve care and appearance

  • Agree the required care check and review how the sweater and embroidery behave together. Record the approved colors, dimensions and placement.

5. Confirm the order

  • Include labels, size breakdown, packing and delivery needs in the specification. Sample charges and quantities are confirmed in the quotation. Use our tech-pack guide or email info@knitcustom.com to prepare the next step.
