Custom Knitted Blankets

Develop a knitted blanket around its intended use: a home throw, a branded gift or a coordinated textile collection. Start with finished dimensions, a design reference and the feel you want, then agree a yarn and construction that suit the brief.

A garment image alone is not a complete blanket specification. The larger surface, visible reverse side and edge finish need their own decisions. Send your outline to info@knitcustom.com for a project review.

Specify the Blanket Before Sampling

Dimensions: State the finished width and length, whether the edge is included, and how the sample should be measured.

Yarn and feel: Discuss composition, thickness, softness and care requirements. Review the selected yarn in a physical sample instead of relying only on a photograph.

Pattern scale: Decide whether the design is one large motif, a border or a repeated pattern. Check how it appears when the blanket is folded as well as laid flat.

Reverse side and edges: Confirm the intended appearance on both faces, the border construction and any label position. A design visible on the front does not automatically create the same finish on the reverse.

Packing and intended use: Include folding, labels and gift-pack requirements in the brief. If the blanket is intended for babies or children, identify that use and the destination market before sampling so the applicable requirements can be reviewed.

From Blanket Brief to Production

1. Send the project brief

  • Provide artwork, finished dimensions, quantities, color references and your intended delivery destination.

2. Agree the construction

  • Review yarn, stitch texture, pattern scale and edge finish together. Jacquard and intarsia explain two ways of planning knitted colorwork; suitability is assessed for the blanket design.

3. Review the sample

  • Check dimensions, softness, pattern proportions, edges and the reverse face. Confirm whether an initial swatch or a full-size sample is appropriate.

4. Record the approval

  • Document the selected material, colors, tolerances and care checks. Sample cost, minimum order and production timing are quoted for the project.

5. Confirm packing and dispatch

  • Approve the folding method, labels, packaging and order quantities. Include transit time separately from the production schedule. Our company profile explains how we support custom knitwear projects.
